Classification of plastic pipes How to choose your plastic pipe
Plastic pipes are generally made of synthetic resin, that is, polyester, as raw materials, adding stabilizers, lubricants, plasticizers, etc., and are extruded in a pipe making machine by injection molding. Advantages: light weight, corrosion resistance, beautiful appearance, no bad smell, easy processing, convenient construction, etc.

Concept: Plastic pipes are generally made of synthetic resin, that is, polyester, as raw materials, adding stabilizers, lubricants, plasticizers, etc., and are extruded in a pipe making machine by injection molding.

Advantages: light weight, corrosion resistance, beautiful appearance, no bad smell, easy processing, convenient construction, etc.

Disadvantages: low strength, poor heat resistance.

Uses: Mainly used for water supply system piping, drainage, exhaust and sewage sanitary pipes, underground drainage pipe systems, rainwater pipes and threading pipes for wire installation in housing construction.

Classification: According to different pipe materials: plastic pipes for construction mainly include polyvinyl chloride pipes, chlorinated polyvinyl chloride pipes, polyethylene pipes, cross-linked polyethylene pipes, etc.

1. Rigid polyvinyl chloride pipe (PVC-U)

Uses: used for water supply (non-drinking water), drainage pipes, rainwater pipes.

Advantages: corrosion resistance, smooth inner wall, not easy to scale, good hydraulic conditions, light weight, easy installation, not easy to age, low thermal strength, hard texture, cheap, easy to bond, flame retardant.

Disadvantages: no impact resistance, poor durability, high requirements for joint bonding technology, long curing time.

Connection method: socket bonding, plastic welding, special accessories flange connection, threaded connection.

2. Chlorinated polyvinyl chloride pipe (PVC-C)

Uses: mostly used for heating pipes, drain pipe pipes, sewage pipes and Electric Conduit pipe.

Advantages: the best temperature resistance, good anti-aging properties, good flame retardant properties.

Disadvantages: high price.

Connection method: socket bonding, plastic welding, flange connection of special accessories, threaded connection

3. Polyethylene pipe (PE)

Uses: HDPE and MDPE pipes are widely used as urban gas pipelines and urban water supply pipelines. LDPE pipes are widely used as agricultural irrigation and drainage pipes.

Classification: According to its density, it is divided into high density polyethylene pipe (HDPE), medium density polyethylene pipe (MDPE) and low density polyethylene pipe (LDPE).

Features: HDPE pipe has high strength and stiffness; MDPE pipe has good flexibility and creep resistance in addition to the compressive strength of HDPE pipe; LDPE pipe has good flexibility, elongation, and impact resistance. In particular, it has good chemical resistance and high-frequency insulation properties.

Connection method: electric heat fusion, hot fusion butt connection, flange, screw thread, etc.

4. Cross-linked polyethylene pipe (PE-X)

Uses: Mainly used for building indoor cold and hot water supply and ground radiant heating. Cross-linked polyethylene pipe PEX pipe generally has three types: a, b, and c. PE-Xa pipes are used for hot and cold water pipes, oil pipes, oil tanks, chemical pipes, etc.; PE-Xb pipes are used for floor heating pipes (toxic fade out of the market); PE-Xc pipes are currently the most environmentally friendly floor heating pipes.

Advantages: good temperature resistance, good creep resistance, good memory line, easy to correct.

Disadvantages: It can only be connected with metal parts and cannot be recycled and reused.

Connection method: special metal connector clip sleeve type, clamp type connection and thread connection.

5. Heat-resistant polyethylene pipe (PE-RT)

Uses: indoor cold and heating pipes, especially hot water systems. Ideal for radiant heating applications.

Advantages: excellent temperature resistance, use at -70 ℃ ~ 90 ℃; excellent thermal insulation performance, low thermal conductivity; long service life, can be used safely for more than 50 years; chemical resistance and corrosion resistance; good recovery shape Memory performance; anti-vibration, shock resistance; excellent hydraulic properties.

Disadvantages: cannot be recycled; the overhead span of the pipeline is small, and there are many installations of supporting parts; due to the influence of complex situations such as cross-operation during the construction process, the PE-RT pipe is easily punctured, and the reserved pipe end is flattened, etc., resulting in many problems. There are many repairs and rework.

Connection method: three types of hot-melt connectors, electro-fusion connectors and mechanical connectors.

6. Three-type polypropylene pipe (PP-R)

Uses: Mainly used in domestic hot and cold water supply and ground radiant heating.

Advantages: good temperature resistance, recyclable, green environmental protection product, good hygienic performance, suitable for pure water transportation.

Disadvantages: Under the conditions of the same pressure and medium temperature, the pipe wall is thick and flammable.

Connection method: There are mainly electric hot melt, hot melt butt joint, as well as flange connection and thread connection of special accessories.

7. Polybutene tube (PB)

Uses: Mainly used in tap water, hot water and heating pipes.

Advantages: good temperature resistance, good tensile and compressive strength, impact resistance, low creep, high flexibility, under the same pressure and medium temperature conditions, the tube wall is the thinnest, and it is a green product.

Disadvantages: high price, flammable.

Connection method: There are mainly electric hot melt, hot melt butt joint, and rubber ring sealing joint can also be used.

8. ABS engineering plastic pipe (ABS)

Uses: commonly used as sanitary ware sewer pipes, gas pipes, high corrosion industrial pipes

Advantages: high strength, impact resistance, direct threading, good hygienic performance, suitable for pure water transportation.

Disadvantages: The bonding curing time is long and it is flammable.

Connection method: mainly socket connection, flange connection and threaded connection of special accessories.
