What are the Main Uses of PPR Pipe?
PPR water pipe is a kind of polymer material pipe. PPR is the abbreviation of Polypropylene-Random in English. They are commonly known as three-type polypropylene. PPR pipe is an updated product of UPVC water supply pipe, aluminum-plastic pipe, PE pipe, PE-X pipe, and PE-RT pipe. Because it uses random copolymerization technology, polypropylene's strength and high-temperature resistance are well guaranteed, thus becoming the main force of water pipe materials.

1. Sanitation, health, and environmental protection. Polypropylene is an environmentally friendly material and can be used as drinking water delivery pipes.

2. The joints are connected by hot melt to form a whole, 100% leak-free, and other materials are connected by silk, which has poor anti-seepage performance and avoids the toxicity of glue bonding.

3. High-temperature resistance, good pressure resistance, and small conveying resistance.

4. The price is cheap and moderate.

5. Long service life, it can be used for 50 years when produced and used according to the national standard GB/T18742.

PPR is the abbreviation of tripropylene polyethylene, which adopts the method of thermal fusion, has special welding and cutting tools, and has high reliability. The price is also very economical. Just bought a new house, and many people are busy decorating their love nests. How choose the right pipe at the right price is a very important thing for them. The following tips will teach you how to distinguish the quality of PPR pipes.

1. "Touch": Whether the texture is fine and the particles are uniform. Now the PPR pipes on the market mainly have several colors white, gray, and green. In general, recycled plastics cannot be made into white, so many people often think that white is the best. In fact, this view is relatively one-sided. With the update and improvement of technology, color is not the criterion for distinguishing the quality of PPR pipes. Whether the tube is good or bad, it can't solve the problem by looking at it. If you touch it, the rough particles may be mixed with other impurities.

2. "Smell": Is there any smell? The main material of the PPR pipe is polypropylene. Good pipes have no smell, and poor ones have a strange smell. It is likely that polyethylene (PE) is mixed instead of polypropylene.

3. "Pinch": The PPR tube has a considerable hardness, and it can be pinched into a deformed tube casually, and it is definitely not a PPR tube.

4. "Smash": A good PPR tube has good "resilience", and it is too easy to smash because there are too many calcium carbonate fillers, so it is naturally not a good PPR tube. A PPR pipe that cannot be broken is not necessarily a good pipe, the key is to look at the raw material and processing technology.

5. "Burning": Ignite the fire and burn it, it is very intuitive and effective. PPR pipes mixed with recycled plastics and other impurities in the raw materials will emit black smoke and have a pungent smell; good materials will not emit black smoke or odor after burning, and the melted liquid is still very clean after burning.

6. According to the national testing standards, some simple testing items can be identified through the senses.

PPR Pipe for Water Supply

Attentions

1. Compared with metal pipes, PP-R pipes have lower hardness and poorer rigidity. They should be protected during transportation and construction to avoid mechanical damage caused by inappropriate external forces.

2. PPR pipes for water supply have certain low-temperature brittleness below 5°C. Be careful in winter construction. When cutting pipes, use sharp knives to cut slowly. Do not press or knock the installed pipes. If necessary, cover the parts that are susceptible to external forces protector.

3. PPR pipes for water supply are prone to aging and degradation due to long-term exposure to ultraviolet rays. When installed outdoors or in direct sunlight, they must be wrapped with a dark protective layer.

4. Except for the mechanical connection methods such as threaded inserts or flanges used to connect PPR pipes for hot and cold water with metal pipes or water containers, the rest should be connected by hot melt to make the pipes integrated without leakage points.

5. The linear expansion coefficient of PP-R pipe is relatively large (0.15mm/m°C), and technical measures must be taken to prevent pipe expansion and deformation when laying pipes for surface installation or non-direct burial.

6. After the pipeline is installed, it must be tested before it is sealed (directly buried) and covered with a decorative layer (not directly buried). The pressure test pressure of the cold water pipe is 1.5 times the working pressure of the system, but not less than 10MPa; The test pressure is twice the working pressure, but not less than 1.5MPa. The pressure test time and method are stipulated in the technical regulations.

7. When laying PP-R pipes in the open or non-direct buried concealed laying, the supports and hangers must be installed according to the regulations.

PPR Pipe for Hot and Cold Water 


Folded PPR pipe is cost-effective and environmentally friendly

As a new type of water pipe material, PPR pipe for water supply has unique advantages, it can be used as both cold water pipe and hot water pipe. The interface of the PPR pipe for hot and cold water adopts hot-melt technology, and the pipes are completely fused together, so once the installation pressure test is passed, it will not age and leak like aluminum-plastic pipes after a long time.

Advantages: moderate price, stable performance, heat and heat preservation, corrosion resistance, a smooth inner wall without scaling, safe and reliable pipeline system, impermeable, and service life of up to 50 years.

Disadvantages: High technical requirements for construction, special tools, and professionals are required for construction to ensure system safety.

The folded copper tube is corrosion-resistant and can also be sterilized

It is a first-class product in water pipes. There are two ways of connecting copper pipes: ferrule and welding. The ferrule is the same as the aluminum-plastic pipe, and there is a problem of aging and water leakage for a long time. At present, most copper pipes are installed by welding. Welding means that the joints are welded together by oxygen so that they can be like PPR water pipes and never leak. Because of its high price, it is generally used more in high-end apartments or villas.

Advantages: high strength, stable performance, sterilizable, and not easy to corrode.

Disadvantages: high price, difficult construction, easy to cause heat loss in cold winter, large energy consumption, high cost of use.

Folded aluminum-plastic tubes are prone to aging and leakage

Aluminum-plastic pipes used to be a popular pipe on the market. Because of their light weight, durability, and convenient construction, their bendability is more suitable for use in home decoration. In Guangdong and Shanghai, where the concept of decoration is relatively new, aluminum-plastic pipes have gradually lost their market and are eliminated products.

Advantages: The price is relatively cheap, it can be bent at will, the surface is smooth, and the construction is convenient.

Disadvantages: easy aging, many hidden dangers in use, and short service life. The practice has proved that after one year of use, the pipe joints are prone to leakage.

Folded galvanized pipe is easy to block and easy to pollute

The water pipe that has not been used for a long time, you suddenly open it and find that it is "yellow" water. In the past, this kind of thing was very easy to happen in the galvanized iron pipe in the old house. Such "yellow" water is also harmful to the human body. Four ministries and commissions including the Ministry of Construction of China have also issued a document stating that galvanized pipes will be banned from 2000. At present, galvanized pipes are rarely used in cold water pipes in newly built communities.

Advantages: complete varieties and many matching pipe fittings.

Disadvantages: It is an obsolete product prohibited by the state. It is easy to corrode and rust, resulting in poor water flow and easily polluting water sources.
