There are many connection methods between hdpe water pipes and pipes, pipes and PE pipes, pipes and fittings, and polyethylene pipes and metal pipes. Different connection methods have their own advantages and limitations. , the place of use, and other environments, and select the appropriate connection method. The most commonly used connection methods for urban hdpe water supply pipes are butt fusion connection, electrofusion connection, socket fusion connection, flange connection, steel-plastic transition joint connection, etc.
1. Butt Fusion
Butt fusion connection is to use a special heating tool to heat the polyethylene pipe or pipe fittings to be connected under pressure, after making it melt, remove the heating tool, apply pressure to connect the two melting surfaces together and keep it under stable pressure. for a while until the joint cools. Butt fusion connections include hot-melt butt connections, hot-melt socket connections, and hot-melt saddle connections.

2. Electrofusion
Electrofusion connection is to use a special electrofusion pipe fitting with embedded resistance wire to make close contact with the connection part of the PE pipe or pipe fitting and electrify. Electrofusion connections can be used to connect polyethylene pipes or spigot fittings of different types and melt flow rates. Electrofusion connections are divided into electrofusion socket connections and electrofusion saddle connections.
3. Socket Connection
Polyethylene pipe socket-type flexible connection is a new type of connection method developed with reference to the socket-type flexible connection principle of cast iron pipe and polyvinyl chloride pipe (PVC-U). Polyethylene socket. The socket-type flexible connection is to insert one end of the polyethylene pipe directly into the special socket of the pipe or pipe fitting, and the locking ring in the socket is pressed to resist pulling and the rubber sealing ring is pressed and sealed to achieve the purpose of connecting the PE pipe and the pipe fitting.
4. Flange Connection
Flange connections are mainly used for the connection of polyethylene pipes and metal pipes or valves, flow meters, pressure gauges, and other ancillary equipment. Flange connections are mainly composed of polyethylene flange connections, steel or aluminum back pressure looper flanges, steel or aluminum flanges, gaskets or sealing rings, bolts, nuts, etc. Flange connection is to achieve the purpose of connection by tightening bolts and nuts so that the flange connection piece is in close contact with the flange piece.

5. Steel-Plastic Transition Connection
The steel-plastic transition joint connection is to use prefabricated steel-plastic transition joints by cold pressing or other methods to connect polyethylene pipes and metal pipes. The steel-plastic transition joint has a pulling-resistant locking ring and a sealing ring, which is usually required to have good sealing performance, pulling-resistant, and pressure-resistant performance than that of the polyethylene pipes in the system.
HDPE Water Pipe & Pipe Fittings
The above is the connection method of hdpe pipe for water supply. It should be noted that it is strictly forbidden to directly make pipe threads on polyethylene pipes and fittings in any form, and use threaded connections; it is strictly forbidden to use open flames to bake polyethylene pipes and fittings and connect them directly.
HDPE Water Pipe Bonding Methods
1. Before bonding the pipes and fittings, use a dry cloth to wipe the side of the socket and the outside of the socket. When there is oil on the surface, it must be wiped with acetone.
2. The pipe section should be flat, vertical to the pipe axis, and chamfered; before bonding, the insertion mark should be drawn and the test insertion should be carried out. The test insertion depth can only be inserted to 1/3~1/2 of the original depth. It is strictly forbidden to use the bonding method when the gap is too large.
3. When applying the adhesive, the inner side of the socket should be applied first, and then the outer side of the socket should be applied. When applying the socket, an appropriate amount should be evenly applied from the inside to the outside along the axis, and no missing or excessive application (200g/m2).
4. After the adhesive is applied, the applied external force should be kept unchanged within 1 minute, and the straightness and position of the interface should be kept correct.
5. After the bonding is completed, wipe off the excess adhesive extruded in time, and do not apply force or forcibly load during the curing time.
6. The bonding joint shall not be constructed in rain or water, and shall not be operated below 5°C.
7. Connection procedure: preparation → clean up the work surface → test insertion → brush adhesive → bonding → maintenance.
