Casting Pipe Fittings
Pipe fittings are a general term for parts that play the role of connection, control, direction change, diversion, sealing, support, etc. in the pipeline system. According to different processing techniques, they can be divided into casting pipe fittings, forging pipe fittings, and butt-welded pipe fittings.

Basic introduction to casting pipe fittings

1. What are casting pipe fittings? Casting pipe fittings is a process in which metal is melted into a liquid that meets certain requirements and poured into a mold, and then cooled, solidified, and cleaned to obtain a casting (parts or blank) with a predetermined shape, size, and performance. Casting pipe fittings have simple processes, low costs, and good use effects. Although the pressure range is not large, it can meet most design requirements at room temperature and pressure.

2. Material

Casting iron parts, gray castings, ductile iron parts, alloy castings, carbon steel, stainless steel: 316L, 316, 304L, 304, 321 and other materials. 

3. Production standards

GB series (national standard), MSS SP-114 (American standard), DIN (German standard), JIS (Japanese standard), EN (European standard), etc.


Types and characteristics of cast pipe fittings


1. Cast elbow

Cast elbow is a pipe fitting used for connection at the bend of the pipeline to change the direction of the pipeline.

Classification

(1) According to the angle, cast elbow is divided into: 45°, 90°, and other abnormal angles such as 60°.

(2) According to the material, cast elbow is divided into: cast iron parts, gray cast iron parts, ductile iron parts, alloy cast iron parts, etc.

(3) According to the connection method, cast elbow is divided into: socket and thread.

(4) According to the manufacturing standard, cast elbow is divided into: national standard, British standard, American standard, German standard, etc. 

Features

Cast elbows not only have the characteristics of saving space and reducing weight. It also has good sealing performance and corrosion resistance. 

Application

Widely used in chemical, construction, water supply, drainage, petroleum, light and heavy industries, refrigeration, sanitation, plumbing, fire protection, electricity, aerospace, shipbuilding and other basic projects.

2. Tees and crosses

Tees and crosses are mainly used to change the direction of the fluid and are used at the branch pipes of the main pipeline.

Classification

(1) According to the material, cast pipe fittings are divided into: cast iron parts, gray cast iron parts, ductile iron parts, alloy cast iron parts, etc.

(2) According to the connection method, cast pipe fittings are divided into: socket and thread.

(3) According to the shape type, cast pipe fittings are divided into: equal diameter, reducing diameter, and oblique tees.

(4) According to the manufacturing standard, cast pipe fittings are divided into: national standard, British standard, American standard, German standard, etc. 

Features

Light weight, simple construction; good durability, non-toxic and harmless; anti-ultraviolet, corrosion resistance; good anti-freeze and heat resistance; smooth pipe wall, no scaling. 

Application: Widely used in the construction and maintenance of projects in the petrochemical, natural gas, liquefied gas, fertilizer, power plant, nuclear power, shipbuilding, papermaking, pharmaceutical, food hygiene, urban construction and other industries.

3.Hexagonal external thread

Hexagonal external thread, the thread is on the outer surface, directly used to connect the accessories of the pipe fittings.

Classification

(1) According to the material, cast pipe fittings hexagonal external thread can be divided into: cast iron parts, gray cast iron parts, ductile iron parts, alloy cast iron parts, etc.

(2) According to the shape type, cast pipe fittings hexagonal external thread can be divided into: single-end external thread, double-end external thread, and different diameter external thread.

(3) According to the thread type, cast pipe fittings hexagonal external thread can be divided into: American thread NPT, British thread BSPT, etc.

(4) According to the manufacturing standard, hexagonal external thread can be divided into: national standard, British standard, American standard, etc.

(5) According to the surface treatment, cast pipe fittings hexagonal external thread can be divided into: natural color, galvanized, black paint, etc.

4. Hexagonal plug

Hexagonal plug, an external threaded pipe fitting used to plug the internal thread of the pipe end. Installed on the internal thread of the pipe end, it plays a sealing role.

Classification

(1) According to the material, hexagonal plug can be divided into: cast iron parts, gray cast iron parts, ductile iron parts, alloy cast iron parts, etc.

(2) According to the number of sides, hexagonal plug can be divided into: four-corner and six-corner.

(3) According to the shape, it can be divided into: solid and hollow, etc.

(4) According to the manufacturing standard, it can be divided into: national standard, British standard, American standard, etc.

(5) According to the surface treatment, hexagonal plug can be divided into: natural color, galvanized, black paint, etc.

5. Pipe clamp

Casting pipe clamp refers to a pipe connector made by pouring the melted steel ingot into a fixed pipe clamp mold and waiting for it to cool down. Pipe clamp is a short pipe used to connect two pipes. It is a commonly used accessory in industrial pipeline connection.

5. Flat joint

Flat joint is also called pipe joint or joint. It is a common pipe connector that can be easily installed and disassembled. The pipe fittings connecting two pipes can separate the two pipes without moving the pipes, which is convenient for maintenance.

It flat joint has the characteristics of convenient connection operation, reliable connection, high strength, good ductility, strong applicability, good sealing and repeatability, convenient installation and maintenance, safe and reliable operation, etc. 

Application: It is used for cementing, fracturing, acidizing, testing, plugging and well-killing pipeline connection. Flat joint can also be used for production, drilling and well repair manifolds and pipeline connections, and can also be used for steam systems and other system connections.
